Bio
Dr. Sonita Alexander is a distinguished family medicine physician and educator, dedicated to advancing patient care and medical education. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honors and a Master’s in Family Medicine (Distinction) from the University of the West Indies (UWI), where she also completed her Doctor of Medicine in Family Medicine in 2017. To further enhance her teaching skills, she recently obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Alexander currently serves as a lecturer in Family Medicine at UWI Cave Hill Campus and is a sessional consultant with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Transitional Care Community Program. Her research interests include adolescent medicine, medical education, non-communicable diseases, and mental health. She has contributed to the academic community, notably with her publication in Academic Medicine, addressing the challenges students face during the transition from pre-clinical to clinical training.
