About the Programme

The Doctor of Medicine (DM) General Surgery Programme trains applicants to be general surgeons able to operate independently on completion of the programme. The programme emphasizes heavily the development of clinical and technical operating skills coupled with academic learning and research.

What Will I Study?

  • Part I – Basic Science component encompassing Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Principles of Surgery
  • Part II – Learn technical surgical skills and surgical judgement
  • Relies heavily on hands-on training and directed self learning

Career Opportunities

On successful completion of this program you will be able to function effectively and competently as an independent surgeon in any clinical setting.

Additional Information

Applicants will not be accepted into the programme unless they hold a full time post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
 
Consideration will be given to applicants whose home country guarantees funding of  their salary
