
The BSc. in Preclinical Sciences is a 3-year degree at The UWI Cave Hill Campus, that is articulated as Phase 1 of the Transnational Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree (MB ChB) at the University of Ghana (UG).
All students successfully graduating with the BSc, Preclinical Sciences from The UWI will be granted automatic entry to Year Four of the MB ChB degree at the University of Ghana.
Students will be registered at both institutions from the start of the program and will transition seamlessly from one phase to the other.
On successful completion of Phase 1 (Preclinical) and Phase 2 (Clinical), graduates will possess core knowledge, competencies and behaviours that will enable them to:

The UWI/UG Transnational MB ChB degree is a six-year program consisting of:
The BSc. Preclinical Sciences consists of 109 credits. Courses include the following:
BSc Preclinical Sciences (Phase 1)
UWI Registration Fees – US$555.00 per year
UG Registration Fees – US$150.00
Tuition Fees – US$32,500 per year (Partial Tuition Scholarships available).
Housing and Maintenance – approximately US$10,000 per year
Passes in three (3) core and three elective subjects inclusive of:
2. GCE O’ and A’ Level or CXC CSEC and CAPE equivalents
Passes in a minimum of five (5) CXC CSEC subjects of general proficiency (Grades I-III) or GCE O’ Level (Grades A-C) inclusive of:
Passes in four subjects at A’ Level or four two-units of the CAPE equivalents in:
3. International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme
Students must have passes in IB subjects equivalent to the entry criteria established for GCE A ‘Level/CAPE subjects.
Please note the BSc. Preclinical Studies is ONLY available to students who intend to complete their 3 years of clinical training at the University of Ghana in Accra, Ghana, to be awarded the MB ChB degree.
