MSA Joins Faculty Wide InterClub Fresher Fair

Wednesday 4th September, 2024, marked a significant day for the Medical Students Association (MSA) as they joined with other clubs accross the Cave Hill Campus to showcase to the newly accepted students(Freshers) of the University of the West Indies, what the faculty and MSA has to offer.

The Associations booth featured free Blood Pressure Screening, anatomy models from the lab including the Brain, the Upper and Lower Limbs joined by one of the full body skeletal models. Students from accress the university were able to engage with the models, asking varied questions from the purpose of different body parts in normal bodily function to the requirements needed of persons to join the four programmes of the Faculty.

Representatives from the BSc HND programme were also represented with a nutrition game, matching native food choices in Barbados.

Undoubtedly, the exhibition would have been complete without trivia for students. The Publications Department of the MSA, embarked on a video interviewing students across the faculties asking random questions about human anatomy, Non-Communicable Disease and Statistics. In speaking to with MSA President, Ms. Akeila Thomas, she acknowledged the importance of the event, noting that "ICC expo is important becasue it showcases the culture of the island associations and the creativity of student organisations. It highlights the lively student relationships on campus and is also a recreational outlet for all campus to enjoy".
