Facilities available for use by the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) include the following:
FMS Laboratory & Teaching Complex, Cave Hill Campus:
The Faculty's multipurpose complex was officially declared open by the Principal, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, on October 22, 2009. The three storey building has a 200 person capacity lecture theatre, multimodal and multidisciplinary teaching labs and research labs. In addition to classrooms and laboratories, the building houses a state of the art research facility, designed in a modular fashion, in order to accommodate the research efforts and needs of the Faculty’s basic science investigators. The research space will soon be fully equipped with core research equipment to support the basic science discovery efforts of the FMS scientific teams.
FMS Administrative Offices, Victor Cooke Building, Cave Hill Campus:
This building was formerly known as the Main Administration Building of the Cave Hill Campus. As part of the recently-concluded 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Cave Hill Campus (2013), various wings of the building were named after some of Cave Hill's most illustrious stalwarts. The area occupied by the Faculty of Medical Sciences houses offices for the Dean, faculty, administrative staff, and temporary office facilities for the Medical Students Association.
Lecture Halls:
In addition to the 200 person lecture theatre in the new FMS building, there are three lecture halls across the Cave Hill Campus (LR6, LR10, LR11) dedicated for use by our teaching staff and students. These lecture rooms are located in the teaching complex adjacent to the FMS main building. All three lecture halls are reserved for specific time slots and are equipped with the necessary audiovisual equipment.
Laboratory Space:
The Faculty of Medical Sciences laboratory is housed on an entire floor of the new FMS building. This laboratory space is dedicated to teaching Anatomy/Histology labs as well as Biochemistry/Cell Biology/Physiology/Pharmacology labs.
Library:
The Cave Hill Campus Library at UWI and all its facilities are available for use by the FMS students. Additionally, internet access is available through a computer lab on campus as well as campus-wide WI-FI connection inside and outside the classrooms. This library houses materials chiefly for Phase 1 students.

Errol Walrond Building, Clinical Skills Complex:
A Ministry of Health property was recently acquired by the University for use by the Faculty of Medical Sciences as a base for its clinical teaching programmes. Refurbishment of this building was completed in 2012 and occupied by Faculty and Staff in November of that year. As part of Cave Hill's 50th Anniversary celebrations in the year 2013, this building was suitably named after University stalwart and former Medical Dean, Sir Errol R. Walrond. The building houses office accommodations for faculty and staff, 3 seminar rooms, 3 medical laboratories, a medical library, extensive conference and meeting facilities, and a students' lounge that is generously outfitted with a range of amenities.
The Clinical Skills Complex is guarded both by electronic security and 24-hour manned security.
