
On the occasion of the launch of the Cecil Cyrus Caribbean Museum of Medical History (CCCMMH), The Faculty of Medical Sciences, The UWI, Cave Hill presents a panel discussion entitled "The Ethics, Ownership and Legacy of Museum Curation" on May 8, 2025 at 12:00 pm in Seminar Room 1, Errol Walrond Building, Clinical Skills Complex. This will be followed by a public Lecture entitled “Curation of Caribbean Heritage: A Segue to the Future on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the Faculty of Medical Sciences Library at the Clinical Skills Complex.
The panel will include experts in medical ethics, embryology and anatomy, pathology and heritage curation. The discussion will capture the views of the panelists on the ethical parameters governing the curation of medical artifacts, proprietary matters and legacy which concern museum curation. The public lecture will be delivered by one of our panelist, Ms. Connie Bell, who is a U.K. based practitioner and co- founder of Decolonising The Archive (DTA) and University of Repair. As a Consultant, Memory Worker and Cultural Producer, her work explores decolonial methodologies and memory as technology within archives. Connie will explore curation of Caribbean heritage as a pathway for future exploits in the development and curation of Caribbean relics concerning the health and welfare of the Caribbean people. All persons are invited to the panel discussion and public lecture.
