How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: SUBMIT completed Application Forms to Student Affairs (Records) by JUNE 30, 2018. The form can also be emailed to records@cavehill.uwi.edu or faxed to (246) 425-1327 or (246) 424-7392.
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

Scotiabank Barbados Scholarship

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: Open to a national of Barbados who is (1) under the age of 21 on the 31st December in the year of the award; (2) obtained admission or is qualified for admission to the University of the West Indies; (3) reading for a first degree in Business and Administrative Studies and other areas of social need including:- Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, Education and Social Administration.
Value: BDS$7,000.00 per annum
Criteria: Academic merit and Financial Need.

Scotiabank Eastern Caribbean Scholarship (Grenada and St Lucia)

Duration: Up to 3 years
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Grenada and St. Lucia who have gained admission to the UWI and to the Programme in respect of which he/she has applied for the Scholarship.
Value: Minimum of EC$15,000 per annum.
Criteria: Financial need, academic merit and character.

Sol Caribbean Ltd Scholarships

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: -open to citizens of the OECS, CARICOM or any Sol territories not represented in these aforementioned groups, who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for an undergraduate degree in the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Technology or Social Sciences. -minimum GPA of 3.0; demonstrated leadership in their work or community sphere; and demonstrate a financial need for additional funding.
Value: US$ 2,250.00 each
Criteria: - participation in photo and video shoots by the Benefactor and attend various engagements occasionally within a five (5) year period after receipt of the award. - work in the region for a period of two (2) years immediately after completion of their studies. - not allowed to work for competitors of Sol Caribbean Ltd. for a period of four (4) years after completion of their studies. - sign a bond agreement.

Soroptimist International of Barbados Scholarship

Duration: One (1) Year
Eligibility: National and non-national female students (aged 18-30 years) registering for the final year of studies in a full-time undergraduate degree in Social Work or a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics discipline at the UWI Cave Hill Campus with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
Value: BDS$2,500.00
Criteria: The award shall be based on Academic Merit & Financial Need

Eligibility: Open to nationals of Dominica who are undergraduate students registered for a major in Hotel/Tourism Management at the Cave Hill Campus.

Telford Georges Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to nationals of the Eastern Caribbean who are registered as full-time students in the Faculty of Law and is based on the Grade Point Average achieved on the Level I Law examinations of the LLB programme at the Cave Hill Campus.
Value: BDS$2, 500.00
Criteria: Academic merit.

The Elliott and Loretta Belgrave Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to any campus of the University of the West Indies, to read for a degree majoring in Accounting/Finance or Engineering and who have completed level 1 of the programme with a GPA of at least 3.30.
Value: BDS$10,000.00 per annum
Criteria: The award shall be based on Academic Merit and Financial Need.

The Foster Foundation Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Graduates of the Foundation Secondary School who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus for full time study to read for a degree with a major in English or Sciences. The student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Residents of the Tudor Bridge/Black Rock districts (within the boundaries of St. Michael West Central) or the entire St. Michael West Central Constituency. Involved in extra-curricular activities notably; track and field/ football or community/political activism or a combination.
Value: BDS$2000.00

The Police Wives Association [Barbados] Educational Awards and Bursaries

Duration: 3 years (Scholarship), 1 year (Bursary)
Eligibility: The Award is open to all persons who have gained admission to a University to pursue full-time study leading to a degree. Special consideration will be given to children of persons directly employed with Law enforcement agencies. 1. The Bursaries are open to persons pursuing full-time study at a University or Tertiary Level Institution. Bursaries may also be awarded for Technical level study.
Value: Scholarship: BDS$ 2,500.00 per annum Bursaries: The value of the bursaries shall be determined annually.

The Ralph Boyce Scholarships (sponsored by the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies to read for a degree in any discipline. Candidates must be between the ages of 16-25 years and pursuing a First Degree, first year, full-time studies at any Campus of the University of the West Indies. Candidates must be members in good standing of the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited for at least three (3) years.
Value: BDS$7,500.00 for studies at Cave Hill Campus, BDS$9,000.00 for studies at any other Campus of the University of the West Indies.

Duration: up to 3 years
Eligibility: Members of the U.W.I. (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union Ltd., or Children/wards of members, who have gained admission to any campus of the University of West Indies to read for a degree majoring in any discipline.

Uwi Alumni Circle Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students who are entering level II and or Level III of their programme in any Faculty, in any discipline and are nationals from any of the UWI contributing countries. A student shortlisted for the scholarship will be required to submit an essay of approximately 500 words on why he/she should be chosen and how he/she hopes to contribute to the development of Caribbean society after graduation.

UWI Toronto Gala Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Students registered in the Undergraduate Degree Programme and are: 1. Nationals of CARICOM countries 2. Registered full-time in either the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Science & Technology, Humanities & Education or the Faculty of Social Sciences. 3. Entering level 2 or 3 of their undergraduate degree programme.
Value: CAN$3,000.00
Criteria: Maintenance of a high level of academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above). Demonstrate involvement in co-curricular activities. Verifiable financial need. Instructions – Please submit on a separate application form
