How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: SUBMIT completed Application Forms to Student Affairs (Records) by JUNE 30, 2018. The form can also be emailed to records@cavehill.uwi.edu or faxed to (246) 425-1327 or (246) 424-7392.
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

Dennis and Kay Blades Science and Technology Scholarship

Duration: up to three (3) years
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who are registered full-time Level I/II/III students at the Cave Hill Campus in the Faculty of Science and Technology, pursuing a degree in the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences.
Value: BDS$5,000.00 per annum
Criteria: Academic merit (minimum GPA of 3.0) and financial need.

Duration: to be dispersed over a 3 year period
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados who have been accepted by the University of the West Indies for full-time study to read for a degree in any discipline.

Duration: 1 year

Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados registered full-time or part-time at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree in the Hospitality and Tourism discipline.
Value: BDS$5,000.00 per annum
Criteria: - good conduct and a minimum GPA of 3.0 - commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry - involvement in extracurricular activities for community and national development

Edgar Whiteley Scholarship in memory of Peter Norman Whiteley

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of CARICOM Countries. The award will be made to a student at the Mona Campus. Must be matriculated for entry to UWI and/or continuing course of study at the UWI. 2nd or 3rd year students who have declared a major in a B.Sc Programme in the Physics Department. Must be in good academic standing, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, have proven financial need. Be involved in community/volunteer extracurricular activity/service. Meet all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to students' behaviour and performance

Duration: Up to 2 years
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who are full-time students at the Cave Hill Campus reading in Level 2 of the B.Sc degree in Management, Accounting, Economics or Banking and Finance
Value: BDS$3,000.00 including Summer Internship
Criteria: Academic Merit, Financial Need and Exceptional Drive/Ambition

Duration: 1 Year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados originating from and/or living in the parish of St. George.

Ernst & Young Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Caribbean nationals registered in the Level II programmes and reading for degrees in the following areas: Management, Economics and Management, Computer Science and Management, Accounting, Accounting and Economics, Accounting with minor in Economics, Computer Science and Accounting.
Value: BDS$6,000.00
Criteria: Academic merit. Financial need may also be taken into consideration. It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake a summer internship at Ernst & Young during the period June – August before entering final year.

Freddie Miller Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: -undergraduate students pursuing studies in the field of Electronics -must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or greater -the awardee must commit to work in the Caribbean region for a period of three (3) years after graduation.
Value: BDS$10,000.00 per annum
Criteria: -good academic performance -a clear demonstration of outstanding commitment to public service (volunteerism, involvement in extracurricular activities for community/national development) -financial need will also be considered

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to nationals of the OECS who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree in any discipline.

Gildan Activewear SRL Scholarship

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: One 2 year award to Barbadian nationals who have successfully completed the first year of study at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a first degree in Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field. Candidates pursuing one of the above disciplines with a Major or Minor in French or Spanish will also be eligible to receive the award.
Value: BDS$7,000 per annum
Criteria: Academic Merit and Financial Need It is expected that the successful candidate will complete an internship of 2 months after Level II and of 3 months after the final year of study.

Duration: Up to 3 years
Eligibility: Nationals of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to read for a degree majoring in one of the following disciplines viz. Accounting, Agriculture, Computer Science, Engineering and Management Studies.
Value: BDS$6,000.00`

Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados accepted for full-time study to pursue a degree in business or related studies.

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados entering Level III of the programme and reading for a Degree majoring in Accounting.
Value: BDS$3,500.00
Criteria: Academic merit. Consideration will also be given to contributions to the social/cultural life of the Campus.
