How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: SUBMIT completed Application Forms to Student Affairs (Records) by JUNE 30, 2017. The form can also be emailed to records@cavehill.uwi.edu or faxed to (246) 425-1327 or (246) 424-7392.
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

ALVIN TAITT Memorial Grant

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at the Cave Hill Campus pursuing a degree with a major or minor in Literatures of English.
Value: CAN$300.00 per annum

American Foundation for the University of the West Indies Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: o Be nationals of CARICOM countries o Must matriculate for entry to the any of the UWI campuses and /or continuing course of study at any of the UWI campuses o Must be in good academic standing o Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 o Have proven financial need o Be involved in community /volunteer extracurricular activity /service o Meet all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to student behavior, discipline and performance
Value: Between USD $2000- USD $5000

Anthony & Joy Bland Scholarships

Duration: up to 2 Years
Eligibility: Caribbean Nationals reading for a degree in LAW who have completed Part I and are registered to continue in Parts II and III of the LLB programme.
Value: Scholarships - BDS$5,000.00 each (2) Bursary - BDS$2,500.00
Criteria: Academic merit but some consideration may be given to financial need.

Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union Ltd Carter and Hutson Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals who are members of the Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union or the children/wards of members in good standing, who have successfully completed the first year of study with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a first degree in any discipline.
Value: BDS$2, 500.00 per annum

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Open to members of the BWUCCUL or the children or wards of members who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus to read for a degree majoring in any discipline or are students registered for a full-time programme.

Cave Hill Campus IT Services (CITS) Award

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Full-time students in the Faculty of Science & Technology reading for a degree in Computer Science.
Value: BDS$3,000.00

CCRIF SPC - UWI Undergraduate Scholarship

Duration: 2 years - for 2nd and final year of study only
Eligibility: CARICOM Nationals and nationals of CCRIF member countries pursuing full-time undergraduate study in Earth Sciences or Meteorology. Applicants must be second year students for the 2017/2018 academic year and must not hold any other scholarship or bursary at the time of the CCRIF award.
Value: US$4,000.00 per annum
Criteria: Academic Merit (minimum GPA of 3.0. Awardees must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for the award in their final year. Students who have withdrawn from the programme without good reason and the approval of the Academic Director, or who fail to complete the programme, will be required to repay the award. Deadline for submission is May 31, 2017. APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE OFFICE OF STUDENT FINANCING, MONA CAMPUS, JAMAICA.

Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who are entering Level II of the B.Sc. (Economics & Mathematics) programme

CIBC FirstCaribbean International Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: The Scholarships are offered to students at any campus of the University of the West Indies in any discipline as follows: • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Barbados • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Jamaica • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago • Two (2) scholarships for nationals of the Bahamas • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of the OECS territories • One (1) scholarship for a national from any Caribbean country who is the child of an employee of the Bank.
Value: US$2,500.00 each

Eligibility: - a policy holder or the child/ward of a policyholder of CGICL, who have gained admission to read for an Undergraduate degree in any discipline at any Campus of the University of the West Indies.

Duration: one (1) year
Eligibility: 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students studying in any academic field, from Black Rock, Grazettes and surrounding districts in the St. Michael Area.
