How to Apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship

  • STEP 1: REVIEW Available Scholarships below.
     
  • STEP 2: SELECT scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria  (listed in the description of each scholarship).
  • STEP 4: APPLICATION DEADLINE is no later than  May 31 of the current academic year.
     
  • Applicants from the Mona, St. Augustine and Open Campuses must submit an Official Transcript.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via their assigned UWI email address e.g Firstname.Lastname@mycavehill.uwi.edu.

ALVIN TAITT Memorial Grant

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Education at the Cave Hill Campus pursuing a degree with a major or minor in Literatures of English.
Value: CAN$300.00 per annum

American Foundation for the University of the West Indies Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: o Be nationals of CARICOM countries o Must matriculate for entry to the any of the UWI campuses and /or continuing course of study at any of the UWI campuses o Must be in good academic standing o Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 o Have proven financial need o Be involved in community /volunteer extracurricular activity /service o Meet all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to student behavior, discipline and performance
Value: Between USD $2000- USD $5000
Criteria: SUBMIT ON A SEPARATE FORM by 30 June of the current academic year.

Anthony & Joy Bland Scholarships

Duration: up to 2 Years
Eligibility: Caribbean Nationals reading for a degree in LAW who have completed Part I and are registered to continue in Parts II and III of the LLB programme.
Value: Scholarships - BDS$5,000.00 each (2) Bursary - BDS$2,500.00
Criteria: Academic merit but some consideration may be given to financial need.

Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union Ltd Carter and Hutson Memorial Scholarship

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Barbadian nationals who are members of the Barbados Police Co-Operative Credit Union or the children/wards of members in good standing, who have successfully completed the first year of study with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus leading to a first degree in any discipline.
Value: BDS$2, 500.00 per annum

Eligibility: Full-time students in the Faculty of Science & Technology reading for a degree in Computer Science.

Duration: Up to 2 years
Eligibility: Nationals of Barbados who are entering Level II of the B.Sc. (Economics & Mathematics) programme

CIBC FirstCaribbean International Scholarships

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: The Scholarships are offered to students at any campus of the University of the West Indies in any discipline as follows: • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Barbados • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Jamaica • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago • Two (2) scholarships for nationals of the Bahamas • Three (3) scholarships for nationals of the OECS territories • One (1) scholarship for a national from any Caribbean country who is the child of an employee of the Bank.
Value: US$2,500.00 each
Criteria: Exceptional academic performance.

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Open to nationals of Barbados who have completed Level I of the programme, reading for an undergraduate degree in Management, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a combination of these. A minimum 3.0 GPA average is required.
Value: BDS$5,000.00

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: - a policy holder or the child/ward of a policyholder of CGICL, who have gained admission to read for an Undergraduate degree in any discipline at any Campus of the University of the West Indies.
