Testimonial:
The trip to the University of Rio de Janeiro was a great opportunity for interaction between the students of UWI Cave Hill and Rio de Janeiro Rural to share experiences on issues such as race relations in Brazil and the Caribbean, cultural differences/similarities between the two regions and issues affecting students in both Brazil and the Caribbean. Visits to the Samba school and Samba night, Quilombo Cafunda, Slave burial memorial and the Candomble House, all provide valuable first hand insights into the history/culture of Rio and Brazil in general. Personally the trip was also an excellent opportunity to share information on my current research. This effort must be commended and continue to grow.
