Dictionary of Barbadian Biography

The project, funded by the Government of Barbados, commenced in 2016 with a broad committee drawn from the practicing historians in the country under the chairmanship of Prof Emeritus Sir Woodville Marshall. This committee drew up criteria for inclusion and proposed named. Students were employed to research biographies of the names proposed, while writers were employed to create biographies. A smaller editorial committee drawn from the Department of History and the Barbados Museum and Historical Society monitored the research and writing. So far over 640 biographies were written and most of them have been edited. The publication is expected to be launched in 2021.
