Thank you for making the choice to be counted amongst the numbers of
innovative, transformative and unparalleled leaders in education. You have joined a School of Education (SOE) that has nearly 60 years of contributions to the academic and social excellence of the region, shaping the very core of individuals, families and communities. You are now a member of a team of quality professionals and specialists in education who are working in collaborative partnerships to accelerate research and community engagement in education locally and internationally. As such, you will be called to strengthen not just your capacity for analysis, but your competencies around navigating the dynamic conditions of education delivery and the arising relationships proactively and productively.
This is the nature of education as political and social and is at the heart of who we serve, children with diverse learning needs. Thus, we need teachers, leaders, and education workers with strong democratic and social justice orientations able to leverage the opportunities of technology ethically and inclusively. Across the collaborative learning experiences initiated within the SOE and the university, and through connections with your faculty members and peers you will begin to interrogate and craft solutions for complex educational and social problems. Know that you contribute to the formation, transformation and sustainability of our society, handle this responsibility with care, but manage it with robust research data. I welcome you to The UWI-SOE Cave Hill family.
