Testimonial:

I decided to pursue the Bachelor of Education Degree specializing in Early Childhood Care and Education. From an early age I always loved working with children, therefore I knew this programme of study aligned best with my passion.

My three years at UWI were sharp yet educational. Sharp in the sense that new methods of teaching were being used and I had to adapt quickly; the huge and diverse mindsets of my colleagues were sometimes terrifying and, I felt great pressure in managing the assignments and the workload which often made deadlines exhausting. Educational, because it introduced me to new ways of successful learning and teaching, proper time management and selective breaks to avoid burnout. As it relates to lecturers, most were very considerate and merciful when it came to requesting an extension for assignment deadlines.

Overall, despite the pandemic disrupting networking and interacting professionally with others, the online learning experience worked well for me, and I felt more in control of my learning. I received First Class Honors and was awarded the Level III School of Education Book Prize.

If you asked me three years ago what I hoped to achieve at the University of the West Indies, the answer would not have included any of the acknowledgements gained. My future aspirations are to continue my journey with children as well as those with Special Needs, and to pursue my master’s degree in Education after having some exposure in the education system.
