Teaching Areas: Principal areas of teaching: Spanish language and English-Spanish Translation.
Also teaches: Spanish for Tourism; Latin American Film; Immersion for Languages (intercultural development course taken around an immersion programme).
Biography: Ian Craig was born in Lincoln, England and studied at the University of Essex and the University of London, from where he obtained his doctorate in Hispanic Studies. He worked as a translator in Madrid for two years before coming to Cave Hill in 1999.

Study abroad in the Caribbean, intercultural competence as a component of internationalization in the Caribbean context, Latin American and Caribbean film, translation in the Caribbean, Francoist censorship, and contemporary Cuba.

Additional Information:

Dr. Craig is currently Head of the Department of Language, Linguistics and Literature (2016-2019). He is Cave Hill Liaison for the UWI-Heart for Change/Prosperity Makers collaboration, which hosts Colombian intern/volunteers as Spanish language teachers and cultural ambassadors at the Cave Hill Campus. He also coordinates the Spanish Immersion programmes in Spain and Mexico.
