Bio
Dr. Janice E. Jules has been a teacher in the Primary School System for over thirty years. From 2000 until 2005, she worked at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus as a Part-time Tutor of the Foundation Language Programme in the Faculty of Humanities and Education. During the period 2005 until 2007 she was the Teaching Coordinator of Teaching English as a Second Language in The UWI/Columbia Summer Programme. From 2008 until 2010 she worked as a Teaching Assistant within the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Petroles de Venezuela S.A. programme offered at The UWI. Presently, Dr. Jules is assigned duties as a Lecturer/Coordinator in the discipline of Linguistics in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Literature at The UWI.

Research Areas
Research interests are innovations in language teaching, strategies and methods in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Another interest is teaching Standard English to non-standard speakers of the language in an Anglophone setting. In addition, an emerging area of interest is attitudes towards non-standard languages and dialects with special focus on the application of home language methods and home language awareness in English Language teaching. To date, Dr. Jules has delivered several presentations centred on the research areas as well as published articles.
