His presentation offers insights into the various opportunities and challenges AI presents to teaching and assessment methods and discuss strategies to protect the integrity of assessment and evaluation. The ICE (Ideas, Connections, Extensions) formative assessment model is presented to help participants leverage AI to address individual student needs and interests. Practical examples of how educators could incorporate AI applications to create authentic assessments that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>Workshop #2 (9.00 am \u2013 12:00 noon):&nbsp; Action Research for Teachers: Evidence Support for Classroom Instruction <\/strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPresented by Dr Coreen Leacock (Caribbean Education Research Center, CERC)<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong><em>Description \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>This workshop, designed for classroom teachers, will discuss with participants how classroom research can be used to inform their decisions about instruction, and will provide practical guidelines for planning, executing and using the results of classroom investigation to plan appropriate instruction to meet the learning needs of each student.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><em><strong><span style=\"color:#FF0000;\">Participants limit \u2013 25 persons<\/span><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>Workshop #3 (9:00 am \u2013 11:00 am): <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><strong>Innovations in Curriculum, Assessment, and Teacher Professional Development in the OECS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPresented by Mr Royston Emmanuel and Mr Rafer Gordon (OECS Commission)<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong><em>Description: <\/em><\/strong>This interactive workshop explores the latest advancements in curriculum development, regional assessments, and teacher professional development within the OECS. Participants will engage with key initiatives such as the Digital OECS Harmonized Primary Curriculum (D-OHPC), the OECS Early Grade Reading and Mathematics Assessments (OERA &amp; OEMA), and the MyPD professional development framework.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThrough discussions, attendees will examine how digital transformation, culturally relevant pedagogy, and innovative assessment strategies can enhance teaching and learning outcomes. This workshop aims to bring these experiences to the forefront by engaging educators and researchers in critical discussions on mentoring across the career continuum. Participants will explore the nature of mentoring in the region, share personal and institutional experiences, and strategise ways to overcome barriers. Finally, the session will lay the groundwork for meaningful contributions to the literature, ensuring that Caribbean voices and insights shape the discourse on mentoring in the region.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>Workshop #5 (1:00 pm \u2013 4:00 pm):<\/strong> <strong><em>Innovative and Inclusive Assessment Practices: Leveraging Technology for Sustainable Impact in Education<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPresented by Dr Brendalee Cato (Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC))<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<strong>&nbsp;Description:<\/strong>&nbsp;This workshop will explore the Caribbean Examinations Council&#8217;s (CXC&#8217;s) innovative use of technology to enhance assessment practices. We will examine key processes, including item generation using Surpass Co-Pilot, test development with Surpass, and online testing and script marking.
