It seeks to enrich the student&rsquo;s understanding of the arts and the experience of the arts. It uses an interdisciplinary approach, which provides the basic knowledge and skills necessary for advanced study in the arts. Students learn the vocabulary, terminology and methodology of the arts paying particular attention to issues of aesthetics in art criticism, history and theory.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h5><strong>Level II<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>No level II courses<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h5><strong>Level III<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>HUMN3001 Aesthetics, Theory and Criticism <\/strong><strong>(6 credits)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Prerequisite: FILM2010 OR THEA2002 Creative Arts<\/em><br \/>\nThis is a two-semester course, which provides a theoretical and methodological context for advanced critical study and practice of the arts. Part one presents an introduction to primary issues of aesthetics and the philosophy of art and examines the critique of traditional aesthetics; part two focuses on the application of theory and methodology to criticism and interpretation of the arts. The course also examines central questions in Caribbean arts and aesthetics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HUMN3900 Internship<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Prerequisite: Permission of the Dean<\/em><br \/>\nThis course is designed to provide practical on-the-job experiences in planning, production, operation, marketing and performance to complement in-class coursework.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>HUMN3901 Capstone\/Thesis Project<\/strong> &#8211; (6 credits)<br \/>\nThis year-long course will involve the production of a strong, well-constructed, compelling work of art in film, theatre, writing and\/or dance exhibiting the student&rsquo;s unique voice and style. Students are encouraged to coordinate their own creative teams and present a proposal for a creative project or research paper. Students who do a creative project will work in a variety of roles: one will be a major role and the other a minor role. The lecturer\/coordinator must approve all roles and projects. The students will work under close supervision of an advisor and be expected to make class presentations as well as provide a journal of their activities.
