The following undergraduate prizes or recognitions are awarded to students who have obtained a level of excellence in their academic studies. All prizes and recognitions are announced in semester I of the proceeding academic year of the award.
Dean’s List
The Dean's List is a recognition of the outstanding performance of students in the Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts each academic year. The Dean’s List does not carry any other recognition or prize.
Criteria for Inclusion
To be eligible for the Dean’s List:
(i) students registered full-time should have successfully completed 24 or more credit hours within the academic year with above average grades and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.60. A full-time student is defined here as any student who takes 12 credit hours or more per semester.
(ii) students registered part-time should have successfully completed at least 12 credit hours within the academic year with above average grades and a cumulative grade point average
(GPA) of at least 3.60. A part-time student is defined here as any student who takes 9 credit hours or fewer per semester. Results from Summer School (semester III) examinations will not be considered.
Students with F, FA, FC, FE, FT, F1, F2, F3, I, NP, NR or NV designations on their transcript for the academic year under review will not be eligible for the Dean’s List.
Faculty Prizes
The Faculty prize is a level prize awarded to the undergraduate student in the Faculty with the best overall results within the academic year at each level.
Level I Faculty Prize—a book prize awarded to the student with the best overall results, with at least a B+ average, for examinations taken in level I courses only.
Level II Faculty Prize—a book prize awarded to the student with the best overall results, with at least a B+ average, for examinations taken in level II courses only.
Level III Faculty Prize—a cash prize awarded to the student with the best overall results, with at least a B+ average, for examinations taken in level III courses only.
Other Prizes
Helen Carnegie Prize for the Creative Arts
This prize is a cash prize awarded annually to the most deserving student in the Creative Arts.
Elrita E Greenidge Memorial Scholarship
The Scholarship is awarded annualy. It is open to Barbadian students in Levels II or III in the Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Dance. Where no suitable applicant, students pursuing a BFA Major or Minor in Music will be considered. Students should have a minimum GPA of at least 3.0.
