MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14 - MUSIC

MUSC1020 Caribbean Popular Music and Society
Popular music has a prominent place in Caribbean culture. Drawing on folk and traditional musics it often provides socio-political commentary on Caribbean societies, and in many instances is associated with distinctive dance styles. By its focus on listening and analysis, this course provides opportunity to explore Caribbean popular music and to understand its structures, particular eras and stylistic differences.

CLTR 2100 Festivals and Rituals in the Caribbean
In this course, students will examine the ways in which Caribbean festivals and rituals provide roots/ routes to understanding Caribbean society and culture.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16 - FILM
10.00 a.m.-1.00 p.m. 
FILM2000 Caribbean Film 
The course studies seminal feature films and documentaries by Caribbean film makers that reflect the diversity of the region. Representations of race, culture and landscape, migration and nation, as well as the impact of history, economics and politics of the region on the development of Caribbean cinema are explored.

A pre-professional production course. Students work in a company setting to plan, design, rehearse and stage a theatrical production.
