The Department of Creative and Performing Arts annually hosts the Imagine Youth Summer Arts Programme during the July to August Summer period. Young persons ages 11-17 years, who share a passion for dance, theatre, film or animation, are awarded a five-week fun, but educational experience in an enriching arts environment. This specialised summer programme is designed to incubate the arts in our youth and provide the opportunity for them to realize and nurture their own talents from a safe and secure environment.
Administered by the staff, students and alumni, the programme serves as an opportunity for current UWI students to offer their skills while training as arts educators and administrators. The Department strives to provide training that serves to enhance the skills of talented youth in the innovative, imaginative and performing arts. This is partly achieved through the design of projects and programmes that are relevant to the development of the arts in the Caribbean region.
The Department is always inspiring creativity and innovation by promoting the use of digital technology by our region’s youth. We continue to introduce the art of Animation, therefore if you are interested in 2D or Stop Motion Animation,
Imagine Youth is definitely where you want to spend your summer!
