{"id":29,"date":"2020-07-21T11:18:15","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T15:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/fccpa-dcpa\/the-walcott-warner-theatre\/"},"modified":"2026-02-05T10:24:59","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T14:24:59","slug":"the-walcott-warner-theatre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/fccpa-dcpa\/facilities\/the-walcott-warner-theatre\/","title":{"rendered":"The Walcott Warner Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container-fluid page-wrapper site-font\">\n<section>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h1 class=\"page-header\">The Walcott Warner Theatre   <\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"faculty-content-page\">\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Walcott Warner Theatre\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/85\/Images\/Facilities-Images\/WWT-Main.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p>The Walcott Warner Theatre (WWT) was named after two icons of&nbsp;the performing arts in the Caribbean &ndash; the late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Derek-Walcott\" target=\"_blank\">Honorable Derek Walcott,<\/a> poet and playwright of St. Lucia, and celebrated director, the late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EarlWarnerTrust\/\" target=\"_blank\">Earl Warner<\/a> of Barbados.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Theatre houses a state-of-the-art black box theatre. The stage and the seating are not fixed allowing for the space to become a Hall, or to be configured as a Proscenium Stage (audience has equal view of stage), or a Thrust Theatre configuration (audience on three sides of stage).&nbsp; This multi-purpose space can seat 252 persons, but may be modified based on the configuration of the stage and seating arrangements to seat up to 360 patrons. A Kawai Grand Piano is also available for rent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Theatre has a white Cyclorama which can be used as a screen, a ceiling mounted projector for Audio\/Visual or film screening purposes and has built in lighting and sound reinforcement.
