Statement from the Principal: Campus Reopening January 6, 2021

The following statement was issued by the Principal, Professor the Most Honourable, V. Eudine Barriteau.

Following today’s disclosure by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, that January 4 and January 5, 2021 have been designated as public holidays, the Cave Hill Campus will reopen for normal activity on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 subject to any further announcement by Government that could alter this arrangement.
In this regard, medical students in years 3, 4 and 5 will resume classes on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 while classes for all other students recommence on January 18, 2021 as previously planned. Registration will be available from January 11, 2021 and will be conducted fully online unless otherwise stated.
Classes will take the same formats as in Semester 1, offering online, face-to-face or hybrid options, where appropriate.
Staff and students who travelled during the semester break should pay special attention to the travel guidelines for all ports of entry. Please note that free quarantine facilities are now only available to Barbadian nationals and permanent residents of Barbados.
In response to concerns regarding Government’s other recent new and temporary COVID-19 protocols, I wish to urge continued compliance with all national COVID-19 directives. I also wish to remind the Campus community of our urgent and serious responsibility to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Hence, in accordance with our ongoing operational procedures, we continue to prohibit large social gatherings.
I urge you to continue practising rigorous and regular hand washing, appropriate physical distancing and observance of proper sneeze etiquette, in adherence to nationally stipulated guidelines for combatting the spread of COVID-19.
I look forward to seeing you in the New Year and take this opportunity to wish every one of you a safe, productive and rewarding 2021.
