Statement from the Principal: Campus Reopening Arrangements
04/01/2021

The following statement was issued by the Principal, Professor the Most Honourable, V. Eudine Barriteau.

Further to my previous email of December 31, kindly note that when the Cave Hill Campus reopens officially on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 there will be a limited staff presence on site for the remainder of this week.

From Wednesday, January 6, through Friday, January 8, 2021 employees will function remotely, except under special instruction from their Head of Department, Directors or other managers and supervisors who shall reserve the right to request that key individuals attend Campus to perform any duties as required. The anticipated reduction in staff on Campus this week is in keeping with national efforts to restrict large gatherings and thereby minimise further spread of COVID-19 which, as you would be aware, has intensified in recent days.

You should also communicate urgently to a relevant medical authority, any COVID-19 related information, either symptoms or exposure, concerning yourselves which you believe could compromise the health and safety of the Campus Community. Also, please await clearance from the health authorities before returning to work.

I confidently expect colleagues to ensure that all administrative and other offices are adequately resourced to respond in a timely manner to our various stakeholders, especially students. In this regard, I take note and wish to remind that several departments were issued with additional mobile phones last year to facilitate the execution of departmental responsibilities. In addition, staff and students will be aware of several provisions in place to facilitate online payments to the Bursary; and to access online services offered by the Office of Student Services, Admissions, SERU and other departments.

Again, I urge you to exercise utmost caution in ensuring your personal safety during the current pandemic and I look forward to your safe return to Campus on Monday, January 11, 2021 barring any further adverse developments. I wish to also thank you for all you have done to ensure the Campus remained a safe, COVID-free zone last year. We will continue to work with the Government of Barbados to ensure the safety of the Campus Community, but especially to ensure our host country overcomes this latest manifestation of the pandemic. Stay safe, calm and vigilant.

Sincerely

V Eudine Barriteau, PhD, FB, GCM
