Campus Advisories / Updates

Notice to Campus Community re. COVID-19

Following today’s announcement by the Government of Barbados that Barbados has recorded its first incidence of COVID-19, The UWI, Cave Hill Campus advises that all classes are suspended from tomorrow, 18th March, 2020 to resume on 6th April, 2020, pending further developments. All other campus operations will continue during this period in which efforts will be intensified to deliver teaching online, wherever possible, when classes resume.
During the period of suspension, all services of the campus will continue, albeit, at a reduced level. This decision gives consideration to the need to minimise the likelihood of person-to-person transmission of the coronavirus among staff who are on the campus premises.
It is advised that this level of business continuity be achieved by individual offices, departments, centres, institutes and units implementing practicable arrangements that include allowing members of staff to either work from home or within their office on a rotation basis.
Staff are reminded of the COVID-19 Update circulated from the Office of the Campus Registrar on 9th March, 2020 in relation to submission of medical leave.

Heads of Departments will be activating plans to facilitate the continuity of business operations as required and will determine the specific tasks to be assigned for execution, if operating from home.

Staff who are required to be on campus are asked to adhere to all instituted protocols.

Campus Administration urges all members of our community to remain calm and to continue practising good personal hygiene by washing hands frequently with soap and water and to practise social distancing.

Further advisories will be issued to the campus community in due course. Staff and students are urged to pay special attention to emails sent to their campus mailbox.
