Professor Clive Landis  Principal

 R Clive Landis assumed the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in August 01, 2021 and is a Professor of Cardiovascular Research.    Professor Landis has published over 150 scientific papers and conference presentations, the majority arising from research conducted at the Edmund Cohen Vascular Research Laboratory that he founded as an annex at the George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre (GA-CDRC).  His research has focused on the role of inflammation during wound healing, vascular disease, and recovery post-surgery. Professor Landis’ interest in HIV has revolved around the Immunology PhD programme that he founded at Cave Hill as well as a sixteen-year collaboration with the public HIV laboratory. He has published joint scientific papers with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and accepted appointment as Honorary Director of the government HIV laboratory from 2011–2018.  Together with his experience as a senior university administrator, Professor Landis brings an imbued sense of the importance to place students at the centre of all the University does, along with a distinguished track record of teaching, research, and outreach.

Professor Winston Moore, Deputy Principal

Winston Moore is presently Professor of Economics and Deputy Principal at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.  Since joining the University he has also been the Head of the Department of Economics and the Director of the School for Graduate Studies and Research.  Professor Moore is a very active public commentator on issues related to national development and is a former President of the Barbados Economics Society.  His recent research has examined the issues surrounding the green economy, private sector development as well as the economic impact of climate change on tourism.  Professor Moore has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, books and book chapters.  He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Surrey; a MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick; and, a BSc in economics from the University of West Indies, Cave Hill.

Professor Ochieng-Odhiambo
Professor Ochieng-Odhiambo: Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Education

Professor Frederick Ochieng’-Odhiambo is the current Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, Cave Hill Campus. Professor Ochieng’-Odhiambo is Professor of African Philosophic Sagacity.

Professor Eddy Ventose: Dean, Faculty of Law

Professor Ventose is currently the Dean, Faculty of Law, Cave Hill Campus, University of the West Indies. He started his career at the Cave Hill Campus as a Lecturer in Law in 2006, was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2011 and Professor of Law in 2012, at 35 years of age, making him the youngest person promoted to a personal professorship in the history of the University of the West Indies. Professor Ventose previously served as a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court from 2018-2020.

Dr. Don Marshall: Director, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies

Dr. Don Marshall is Director and Senior Research Fellow of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

Mr. David Bulbulia, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute (Barbados)

David Bulbulia is a Barbadian career Foreign Service Officer with an academic background in Sociology and Political Science and post graduate qualification in International Relations. In addition, he has been exposed to a wide range of specialized courses in management and related disciplines including finance, human resources, leadership and organizational behavior, public policy, project cycle and knowledge management. Such exposure, together with practical experience, has allowed him to develop a coherent perspective on the requisites for managing the operations of the Barbados Foreign Service and aligned areas where the Caribbean interfaces with international partners.



 
 

CUPL




CUPL President MA Huaide

Professor MA Huaide was born in October 1965. He graduated from China University of Political Science and Law with a degree of Doctor of Laws. He is a Ph.D. supervisor.
He is currently President and Vice Chair of CUPL Council. He has participated in the drafting of many important national laws of China, such as the Law on National Compensation, the Law on Administrative Penalty, the Legislative Law, and the Administrative Permission Law.
 
 







CUPL Council Vice-Chair GANG Wenzhe

Professor GANG Wenzhe was born in January 1965. He graduated from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) with a degree of Doctor of Engineering. He is a Ph.D. supervisor. He is currently Vice Chair of CUPL Council and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection. He was engaged in teaching and scientific research in oil and gas geology and organic geochemistry.

 



 




CUPL Vice-President SHI Jianzhong

Professor SHI Jianzhong was born in October 1964. He graduated from China University of Political Science and Law with a degree of Doctor of Laws. He is a Ph.D. supervisor. He is currently Vice President of CUPL and Director of CUPL Library. He was engaged in teaching and scientific research in Competition Law and Digital Economic Law.

 




 




Professor Yu Fei

Professor Yu Fei graduated from the Chinese Academy of Social Science with a degree of Doctor of Laws. He was a German Chancellor Scholarship winner funded by Humboldt Foundation and a visiting research scholar of the University of Bonn, Germany and Columbia University, US. He was engaged in teaching and scientific research in the General Part of Civil Law, Tort Law and Legal Methodology. He is currently the Dean and PhD supervisor of the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School of CUPL and a member of CUPL academic committee.





 


Professor XU Lan

Professor Xu Lan was subsequently engaged in academic research in the Law Centre for European and International Cooperation at University of Cologne, the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law at University of Freiburg, the Research Institute of German Legal History at University of Bonn, at University of Freiburg and at University of Göttingen. She has dedicated many years to the practice of Sino-foreign educational cooperation and to researches in the legal field. She is currently the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Dean of School of International Education, CUPL.





 


Dr. LI Renyan

 Associate Professor Li Renyan, graduated from Peking University with her L.L.M, and China University of Political Science and Law with a degree of Doctor of Administrative Procedural Laws. Before her appointment as a Co-Director of Confucius Institute of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus (CI-CH) in 2019, she was appointed as a Chinese teacher for two years at CI-CH.
