The Confucius Institute Shines at The Barbados Community College Language Fair
孔子学院在巴巴多斯社区学院语言文化展上大放异彩
On the 3rd of February 2023, The Confucius Institute (CI) at The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus participated in a language fair hosted by the language department of The Barbados Community College (BCC) and The Barbados Language Centre (BLC). The language fair was held in order to promote the various languages offered by the department to BCC students as well as potential students from a variety of Secondary Schools in Barbados. In attendance were also representatives from The Barbados National Library Service (a partner of CI), The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Language Department, The European Union and The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) among others.

At the CI booth, students were able to view displays of traditional Chinese culture including calligraphy, Chinese clothing, festival decorations, Chinese opera masks and much more. Promotional fliers containing information about the Institute and its many initiatives and programmes were also handed out to students and other attendees. The Confucius Institute also provided prizes for students who engaged with the booth and participated in language exercises and games such as ‘chopstick pickup’.
在孔子学院的展位上，学生们能够看到关于中国传统文化的展示：书法、中国服 饰、节日装饰品、京剧脸谱等等。孔院同时还向学生和其他参与者分发了关于孔子学院及 学院许多节目和活动的宣传单。孔子学院同时还为积极参与摊位活动以及参与语言练习和 游戏（如“筷子夹物”）的学生提供奖品。

Throughout the day, attendees heard speeches from various members of the Barbados Community College including Mr. Paul Blackman, Director of the BLC and Ms. Lamar Smith, Tutor II and School Liaison Officer of the BLC, encouraging students to see new languages not only as subjects, but as opportunities to advance their futures prospects. The attendees were also treated to a variety of performances and demonstrations, including a wellreceived Tai Chi presentation given by Mr. Samuel Soyer and CI volunteer teacher, Jackie Chen.
当天，与会者听取了巴巴多斯社区学院的各成员的发言，包括 BLC 主任保罗·布莱克曼先生和拉马尔·史密斯女士， 他们鼓励学生不仅将新语言视为科目，而且将其视为推动未来发展的机会。与会者还欣赏了文化表演，孔院推荐的太极 拳表演受到好评。
