The Confucius Institute (CI) and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC)
The Confucius Institute (CI) and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) have begun a
partnership aimed at developing and delivering a Chinese language certification for the 16 member
countries of CXC.

At a meeting on 4 October, 2016 with the Registrar of CXC, Glenroy Cumberbatch, CI Co-
directors, Song Qingbao and François Jackman indicated that the Institute would provide support to
CXC’s various bodies charged with developing the Chinese language curriculum.
CI and CXC agreed that adding Chinese to the menu of languages available for study in the
Caribbean constituted an important development for Caribbean students.

The goal is to equip Caribbean students with the tools to take advantage of the emerging opportunities created by the
growing relationship between the Caribbean and China
