The Confucius Institute is now certified to give the HSK examination

The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) is an official examination, administered by the headquarters of the Confucius Institute in Beijing, designed to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers from beginners to advanced level (divided in levels 1-6).

It is an internationally-recognised standard in assessing Chinese language level. The result can be used to apply for Confucius Institute Scholarships, Chinese government scholarships and is highly regarded be employers. It is also accepted by universities in China as proof of Chinese proficiency. The HSK tests include writing, listening and reading skills.

The Confucius Institute at the Cave Hill Campus of The University of the West Indies is now, in 2016, offering the HSK. This is the first time that students in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean will have access to this important certification.
