It was undertaken by the Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES) and the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences of the University of the West Indies (UWI), in collaboration with partners including the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) and the Fisheries Division (FD) with funding from the Natural Heritage Department (NHD) of the Government of Barbados.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" style=\"clear:both\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<p><u>Tracking the Red Lionfish Invasion in Barbados<\/u>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid wp-image-1189 float-left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/cermes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/Research-Projects\/Lionfish-en\/images\/Screen_Shots\/Tracking_the_red_lionfish_invasion_in_Barbados.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"286\" style=\"margin: auto 10px\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThis project seeks to identify\/track what has taken place in Barbados since the first confirmed lionfish (Pterois volitans) sighting in November 2011, increase the amount of data available on the lionfish and provide a central location for the dissemination of information, data, events communications etc. The project is being led by the Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES), University of the West Indies and includes participation from technical and agency staff as well as governmental and non-governmental stakeholders associated with marine research, conservation, and natural resource monitoring and management.
