Biography
Dr. Rebecca Katz is an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security at Georgetown University. Since 2007, much of her work has been on the domestic and global implementation of the International Health Regulations. Since 2004, Dr. Katz has been a consultant to the Department of State, working on issues related to the Biological Weapons Convention, pandemic influenza and disease surveillance. Dr. Katz received her undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College, an M.P.H. from Yale University, and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.  Please click here for a full biography (.PDF).

Biography
Heather Harewood is a Lecturer in Public Health and Epidemiology. She holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biology and the MBBS from the UWI, the Master of Public Health degree from the University of Birmingham, UK and the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) with high commendation from the UWI.

Heather’s affiliation with UWI, Cave Hill began in 2009 as an Associate Lecturer in Public Health involved in the administration and delivery of the Master of Public Health (MPH) programme. She is currently the Programme Coordinator of the MPH programme at Cave Hill. She also coordinates and teaches on three MPH courses: Environmental Health, Health Care Systems and Health Economics and assists with other courses on the MPH.

She teaches in the medical undergraduate programme, co-coordinating and lecturing on the Health Services Management and the Health and Environment courses.

Biography
Mr. Shawn Kirk has been a veteran laboratorian with 35 years of expert, unparalleled experience on the medical laboratory bench. He recently headed the HIV/Virology Department at Trinidad Public Health Laboratory and is currently the Medical Laboratory Superintendent at the Insect Vector Control Division. Shawn has become an IATA internationally certified Instructor in the Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
