The National Academic Advising Association, a global community for academic advising, defines academic advising as “a systematic process based on a close student-advisor relationship intended to aid students in achieving educational, career, and personal goals through the use of the full range of institutional and community resources.”
At the Cave Hill Campus, every student is assigned an academic advisor whom they should meet at least once every semester. Your academic advisor is intended to be a reference point for you on the campus, someone to whom you can turn to for advice and assistance with academic matters and who can guide you to sources of help if you encounter challenges. The advisor is not only expected to respond to requests for assistance, but also to actively maintain contact with their assigned students to follow their progress throughout the year, and to assist them in maintaining ‘academic health’.
The name of your academic advisor will be communicated to you when you first join the Faculty of Law. However, if any existing students are not sure who is their Academic Advisor, they should check with Ms. Karen Primus, Administrative Assistant, Faculty of Law.
