About the Programme

This Master of Laws programme is designed to provide the foundation for the development of a regional jurisprudence in the area of Public Law. This area is central to the practice of good democratic governance and to the success of both the Single Market an Economy and the CCJ. The Public Law programme aims to provide legal practitioners and other qualified persons in the private sector with advanced training in the areas of Public International Law, International Trade Law, and Competition Law.

  • The area of law that forms the legal foundation of the State and the allocation of its sovereign powers;

Programme Details

Candidates for the UWI LLM (Public Law) must complete thirty six (36) credit hours of the designated course of study comprised of six (6) courses of six (6) credits each.

Four (4) courses must be selected from the prescribed list of courses and for their remaining credits, the remaining two (2) courses can be selected from any courses offered in the UWI LLM programme.
 
Students unable to complete the full UWI LLM (Public Law) are eligible to receive a Postgraduate Diploma (Public Law) upon successful completion of four courses, of six credits each.

To be eligible for admission, applicants:
-    must hold a LL.B. degree, or any other professional legal qualification, with at least Second Class Honours
-    should be admitted to practise in any part of the Commonwealth
-    should have also been certified as being in practice for a minimum of five years.

We offer low tuition fees and several scholarships and financial aid are available.

LL.M. Programme fee: BDS $20,000 (US $10,000) 
Postgraduate Dip. Programme fee: BDS $13,300 (US $6,650) 
Plus ID Card Fee - BDS $30.00 (US $15.00) 
Plus UWI Registration fees – BDS $520.00 (US $260.00) per semester.
