About the Programme

The Corporate & Commercial Law Programme aims to enhance the ability of lawyers and other qualified persons working in the corporate and financial services sector throughout the region to function more effectively in such areas as Banking Law and Corporate Law.
 

What Will I Study?

You will learn about:

•  The regulations and principles that underpin Corporate & Commercial Law in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
•  Issues that are relevant to the financial services sector in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
•  Areas of law such as Corporate Law, Offshore Financial Law, and International Trade Law.

Programme Details

The Programme consists of 14 courses. Students must take at least four (4) Corporate & Commercial Law specific courses, which may include:

  1. Banking Law
  2. E-Commerce Law
  3. Comparative Labour Law in a Corporate Environment
  4. Company Law Theory in Modern Commerce
  5. Legal Aspects of Corporate Misconduct

Students may take up to two (2) of any relevant existing LLM courses with the approval of the Programme Director Coordinator.

To be eligible for admission, applicants:

-    must hold a LL.B. degree, or any other professional legal qualification, with at least Second Class Honours
-    should be admitted to practise in any part of the Commonwealth
-    should have also been certified as being in practice for a minimum of five years.

We offer low tuition fees and several scholarships and financial aid are available.

LL.M. Programme fee: BDS $20,000 (US $10,000) 
Postgraduate Dip. Programme fee: BDS $13,300 (US $6,650) 
Plus ID Card Fee - BDS $30.00 (US $15.00) 
Plus UWI Registration fees – BDS $520.00 (US $260.00) per semester.
