BA in French with Management Studies

About the Programme

The French with Management Studies programme is a degree in which you study French language and literature with a minor in Management Studies. It therefore provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge in Management. At the end of the course, you will be familiar with the French culture, language but also any area related to Management Studies.

What Will I Study?

You will discover: 
  • The beauty of French grammar and vocabulary 
  • The rich literary tradition that has produced 14 Nobel Prizes in Literature, more than any other language besides English 
  • French and Francophone cultures of the Caribbean and Africa 
  • The methods of translation and literary analysis 
  • How to see the world from the perspective of another culture

You will learn to:
  • Analyse and defend views
  • Orally present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects
  • Explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options 
  • Read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems 
  • Compose appropriate responses to extended speech and lectures, TV news and current affairs programmes, follow complex lines of argument in reasonably familiar topics 
  • Write clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects
  • Write an essay or report, giving reasons in support of or against a particular point of view

Our faculty does research in translation, Francophone literature and Francophone culture. We focus on the Caribbean, but expose our students extensively to France and Africa as well.
