What Do I Bring With Me?

 
  • Single sheet sets, 1 blanket, pillow(s)
  • Bedside floor mat,
  • Curtains
  • 1 pair rubber slippers (for bathroom)
  • Bath towels
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, skin lotion, toilet paper, soap)
  • Cutlery, plates, glasses, cups
  • Electric iron
  • Hangers
  • Clothes Pins (if not utilizing dryers)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Mattress cover
  • Pots and pans for cooking
  • Facial Masks
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Medication (e.g. personal medication, paracetamol)
 

Hurricane Preparation Checklist

Before the storm
  • Plenty of bottled water
  • A flashlight (and plenty of batteries!)
  • Radio that uses batteries
  • Non-Perishable Food items that don’t need to be refrigerated or cooked, like canned foods, crackers, granola bars, etc.
  • Cash (ATMs and card readers won’t work if the power goes out)
  • Charge your phone/power banks (Have an additional charger)
  • Get laundry done (You don’t want to be stuck in dirty clothes!)
  • Shower (In case we lose water)
  • Secure all your windows
  • If you’re on the ground floor, unplug and move everything you don’t need in case of flooding
  • Lock up valuables in a drawer/storage box
  • Pack a bag with clothing, toiletries, and any other essentials you use in case you have to evacuate

During the storm
  • Listen for information/announcements from your R.A or campus security
  • Stay indoors unless directed otherwise by a campus official
  • Stay away from windows
  • Keep a record of any damage that occurs to your room from the storm
  • Get in contact with your family and keep them updated
  • Communicate with your fellow residents
  • Most importantly, stay calm
