As parents and family members we understand how daunting the transition of your ward to a University away from home can be extremely different and sometimes even scary. Hopefully we can elevate some of those fears by answering the concerns, questions often received.
Do we have shared male and female facilities?
Our student housing facilities are all mixed however we do separate male blocks and female blocks or male floors and female floors. We do however currently have one block on our Frank Worrell Hall that is a mixed block. Double rooms are all same sex sharing.
Can I keep in touch?
Yes, we encourage you to stay connected as our students like to know that you are there if they need you.
Should I help them to solve problems?
Try to resist the urge to intervene in a problem or situation or handle it for them. Act as a support as this will allow them to problem solve and communicate
.
Can I help them move in?
Yes, we welcome the assistance and support of parents on Move-in day and allow for the transition to be navigated in a way that helps for a smooth transition into their new home away from home.
