Pathways to Tertiary Education and Careers in the Caribbean

Access to tertiary education is an important goal of educators, students and governments in the Caribbean.  This access can be improved not only through increased output from secondary schools and provision of more places in existing universities and colleges but also by identifying, documenting, formalizing and facilitating the use of several alternative pathways to tertiary educational offerings.  Additionally, alternative pathways should lead to diversity in education and career preparation and ultimately to a wide range of career opportunities.

This research is to identify the current pathways being used by students in the following countries to move from secondary school and access college and university programmes within the Caribbean region:

  • Anguilla
  • Antigua & Barbuda
  • Bahamas
  • Belize
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Cayman Islands
  • Dominica
  • Montserrat
  • St Kitts/Nevis
  • St Lucia
  • St Vincent & the Grenadines
  • Turks & Caicos
  • Barbados
  • Jamaica
  • Trinidad & Tobago
