NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: Friday, 22nd August, 2008, 9:00 A.M
Making the Cave Hill Transition: Breaking It Down and Working It Out

On Friday, 22nd August at 9:00 A.M, the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus will hold its annual Orientation Programme for all new students in the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex. Please be seated by 8:45 A.M.

Presentations will be made on several key university services by the following:

  • The Office of Student Affairs
  • Admissions – how to register for courses
  • Campus Security Services
  • Student Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Desk (SEED)
  • The Office of Student Services
  • The First Year Experience Programme
  • Counselling Services
  • Student Health Services
  • Sports Programme
After the Orientation Programme, there will be guided tours of campus by orientation volunteers. These tours will commence at 11:00 A.M.

Parent and Partner Orientation:
Saturday, 23rd August, 2008, 3:00pm

Commencement Service:
Sunday, 24th August, 2008, 5:00pm

Matriculation Ceremony:
Friday, 29th August, 2008, 5:00pm

NOTE:
All events will be held in the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex.

 
ORIENTATION FAIR: Friday, 22nd August, 2008, 12:00 P.M

Following the campus tours you are invited to come to the Orientation Fair, which will be held on the Student Activities Lawn (in front of the University Bookshop).

It will showcase several university services.

Booths will also be set up by several businesses that offer services to students.

  • The UWI Bookshop and its partners
  • Banks (FirstCaribbean International Bank, Scotiabank, Barbados National Bank, Royal Bank of Canada) - information on setting up bank accounts, credit cards and other financial services
  • Insurance (Sagicor General Insurance Inc.) - information on the Student Health Insurance Scheme
  • Supermarkets
  • Beauty Services
  • Mobile and Internet service providers (Cable and Wireless, Digicel)
 
PARENTS'/PARTNERS' ORIENTATION: Saturday, 23rd August, 2008, 3:00 P.M.

Parents and Partners’ Orientation will give persons a forum to talk to University personnel and discuss and ask questions about academic and student life.

It will give parents and partners an opportunity to better understand the changes that students will face on entering university and the demands of university life.

It will be an interactive session where significant others will discuss ways in which they can suppose students and direct them to the resources available to them.
