Welcome to the Student Health Clinic (SHC) of the University of the West Indies. Our mission is to encourage and assist you to maintain healthy living while you are registered with the Cave Hill Campus. Please remember that we are here to assist you holistically.

 

Our main objective is to offer you the ultimate in primary health care and empower you to create and maintain a healthy life.

 

The clinic is situated near Sherlock Hall, along the front walkway shared by the Guild. All students registered at the University are encouraged to make full use of the health service.

OPENING HOURS FOR THE CLINIC

Semester Break Clinic hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

 

Clinic hours are 8:30am - 9:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Outside of clinic hours, please note that the Polyclinics (Health Centres) are open on weekdays until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for emergency cases only.

The nearest one to this campus is the Black Rock Polyclinic. The Fast Track department in the Winston Scott Polyclinic (on Jemmotts Lane) offers health care service Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. (N.B. Weekends and Bank Holidays excluded).

 

 

THE STAFF

You will meet a team of professionals who will include:

• a panel of doctors to serve you on and off campus
• nurses who are well qualified to meet your various health needs
• a psychological counselor to assist with emotional, personal, acdemic and social concerns.

HEALTH INSURANCE:
CariCARE Medical Assistance Plan

 

The CariCARE Medical Assistance Plan is a Comprehensive Major Medical Plan that functions on a reimbursement basis.  For more details on the insurance plan, visit the Schedule of Benefits (PDF) » This plan does not cover Vision, Dental, Maternity and Routine Services.

 

When claiming you must fully complete and sign the claim form and attach all relating itemized bills/receipts.

 

Refund cheques are collected from The Office of Student Services during office hours Monday – Friday 08:30 am – 04:30 pm.
