Study Abroad / Student Exchange

At the University of the West Indies, our International Exchange / Study Abroad Programme makes it possible for students to have the best of both worlds.

 

The University of the West Indies enjoys collaborative links with almost 30 institutions in the United States, Canada, Europe, and elsewhere in the Caribbean that permit study elsewhere either as an Exchange agreement or as Study Abroad through co-operative agreements.

 

 

The deadline for application is March 31 for Semester 1 and October 31 for Semester 2.


Information for Students from other universities wishing to study at Cave Hill Campus

Under Exchange Agreements tuition and other fees are paid to the “home” institution. Students on Study Abroad are required to pay tuition fees except where there is a prior agreement with the “home” University.

 

The University also accepts students for Study Abroad arrangement from other universities with which it does not have co-operative agreements.

 

Students interested in an Exchange / Study Abroad arrangement should consult with the International Office at the University at which they are currently registered.

Information for Cave Hill Campus Students wishing to Study Abroad

You've decided that the University of the West Indies is the institution best placed to provide you with the tertiary education you desire.

 

After all, no other institution can prepare you better for your future contribution to Caribbean development. But there is a part of you that would welcome the chance to experience life as a student in another environment; and why not, there is much to be gained from the international experience in this age of globalization.

 

Our collaborative links with over 30 institutions, make it possible for our students to spend a semester or a year pursuing courses a partner institution. Students may also opt to spend a period at one or the other of the UWI Campuses in Jamaica or Trinidad.

 

Under the Exchange Agreements tuition and other fees (where applicable) are paid to UWI as usual. No tuition fees are paid to the "host" university, but students are responsible for meeting their living and other expenses. In a few cases, maintenance grants are available and these are awarded on the basis of academic merit.
