But there is a part of you that would welcome the chance to experience life as a student in another environment; and why not, there is much to be gained from the international experience in this age of globalization.

At the University of the West Indies, our International Exchange / Study Abroad Programme makes it possible for our students to have the best of both worlds. The UWI enjoys collaborative links with almost 30 institutions in the United States, Canada, Europe, and elsewhere in the Caribbean. These relationships make it possible for our students to spend a semester or a year pursuing courses a partner institution. Students may also opt to spend a period at one or the other of the UWI Campuses in Jamaica or Trinidad.

Fees
Under the Exchange Agreements tuition and other fees (where applicable) are paid to UWI as usual. No tuition fees are paid to the "host" university, but students are responsible for meeting their living and other expenses. In a few cases, maintenance grants are available and these are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Study Abroad Agreements
Study Abroad Agreements exist with institutions such as Brown University, U.S.A. and Warwick University, U.K. Under these agreements students are required to pay the institution fees to the host institution.
