Library Hours

Monday-Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm

There will be occasions when the Library may have to be closed at short notice.

Membership

The Library is open to the academic, research and administrative staff of the University of the West Indies, all registered graduate students, and to visiting researchers from recognized institutions. 

University academic staff will be granted limited borrowing facilities.  All users are permitted to use the Library for reading or reference purposes only.

Borrowing Procedures

Users will be required to complete the Library's Registration Form before using the Library.  This form lasts for one academic year and is obtained at the Librarian's desk.

All users of the Library will be requested to identify themselves.

Books may not be removed from the Library unless the prescribed forms for them has been completed and handed to the Librarian.  A borrower is responsible to the Library for the books for which he/she has signed.

Loans

Academic staff may borrow six (6) books at one time. The period for loan shall not exceed four (4)weeks each semester.

Books loaned may be renewed for a further period if they have not been reserved by other readers.  A book requested by another reader will be recalled. A borrower who fails to return a book after it has been recalled by three (3) notices will have his/her borrowing privileges suspended until the book is returned.

Users of the Library will be charged with the cost of replacement of books lost or damaged.

Certain publications may on no account be removed from the Library.  These include reference books, bound journals, newspapers, and such other publications as the Librarian may decide on from time to time.

Conduct

Smoking eating and drinking are strictly forbidden in the Library.

Cell phones should be turned off or placed on vibrate while using the library.

Briefcases, bags and similar receptacles are not allowed in the Library.
