A book drop for returning material when the Library is closed is located off the main lobby, to your left.
The Library's computer lab is located on level three of the Library. It is equipped with 26 workstations. Registered UWI students and staff are eligible to use this free service. However it is necessary to obtain a user name and password from the Computer Centre. The use of the lab is governed by the Main Library's
Code of Conduct, its regulations and
Policies, and also by the regulations and policies that govern the other computer labs on campus. Students with printing accounts may access this service in the lab. Special conditions apply for non-UWI users. Please contact

The Library will shortly be making a laptop computer available for students’ use in the event that the computer Lab is full or is otherwise not accessible. Students will be required to sign the Laptop Loan Agreement.
Patrons may also use personal laptops in the Library provided that there are no trailing wires and that you do not unplug Library equipment. You are advised to have your computer fully charged before coming to the library, since we cannot guarantee the availability of electrical outlets for public use.
Please be advised that outlets which are used to connect the library’s equipment to the electrical supply are for LIBRARY USE ONLY and under NO condition are these outlets to be used for any non UWI equipment.
Access to material in the library is provided through its online catalogue. However, not all material can be found using this tool. Older material can only be searched through the card catalogue. Therefore patrons need to be aware that in some instances it may be necessary to use both the online and the card catalogues in order to locate material.
Discussion Room
The library provides three discussion rooms for students use. These may be booked for a period of two hours and are made available for groups of two or more. To book, students must present a valid UWI ID to the staff at the circulation Desk. All students booked for a particular room must present themselves together to the Circulation Desk. The ID cards for all persons using the Discussion rooms are held until the key to the room has been returned.
24-Hour Reading Room
Located on level two of the Library. After 11:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and on weekends, access is via the northwestern entrance to the library. The use of the 24-Hour Reading Room is governed by the Main Library's regulations and policies, and by its
Code of Conduct. The reading room is closed on weekdays from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.
Carrels
The carrels are located on level two of the library and are reserved for use by UWI academic staff and Post-graduate students. Users must obtain a key from the Circulation Desk.
Other Study Spaces
The Main Library also has two cell rooms where students can use their cell phones. Group work is also accommodated in these spaces which are outfitted with flexible furniture. Access to this space is on a first come, first served basis. The cell rooms are located on the ground floor and level two.
There is a wireless network on levels one and two of the Library. It is also available in the 24 hour Reading Room, the West Indian section and the Reference area. You must ensure that you have the appropriate wireless LAN card in your laptop in order to secure access.
