What does SFX do?
SFX provides direct links from database citations to related content that is available from the University Library. From any record, click on the SFX button to:

How do I access SFX?

There are two ways to access SFX

Who Can Use SFX

Anyone on the campus may use the SFX links that appear in the Main Library databases. SFX may also be accessed off-campus by current students, faculty and staff after logging into EZproxy.

Why do I sometimes get the journal's home page instead of the exact article?

SFX will try to get you as close as it can to the full text of the article. Often, because of the structure of the journal publisher's web site, SFX cannot link directly to full text. Sometimes the best SFX can do is to take you to the table of contents or the journal's home page

Can I use SFX from off campus?

SFX-enabled databases and the AZ journal list can be accessed from off campus by using your EzProxy login.

Why is there not always a link to full-text.
The publisher may not put the article online in full-text. Sometimes the publisher imposes an "embargo" in which current issues cannot be accessed. Or the UWI Library does not subscribe to full-text, either from the publisher or via a full-text database.

Why doesn't my SFX menu window appear?

If you use one of the popular "pop-up" blocker utilities it may block the SFX menu window; temporarily disable your pop-up blocker, or add the site you're searching (where you found the SFX menu button) to your blocker's list of sites from which pop-ups are allowed.

When I click on a second option from the SFX menu, why don't I see the browser window appear?

This is a problem in Internet Explorer. After clicking on an option in the SFX window, IE opens another browser window on top of the one already open. After making a second selection from the SFX menu, the second browser window remains hidden. To fix this problem, you may need to drag the second window to another location on your screen to be able to see the window underneath.

Why don't I see SFX buttons or links?
