Pat is responsible to the Coordinator of the LRC for the smooth functioning and success of Educational Media Services. Her primary responsibilities include general management of production activities; coordinating and implementing training for faculty in the use of instructional technologies, including workshops,  seminars, technology demonstrations and consultations; coordinating the equipping of technology-ready teaching spaces and maintenance of the EMS web page. She also serves as resource person for training workshops, seminars and consultations in the area of web-enhanced instruction, media aspects of instructional design, video and audio production and use of technology in teaching/learning.

Pat is a proud UWI (Cave Hill) graduate, BA (Spanish & Education). A 1991 Commonwealth Scholar, she also holds the M.Sc. in Information Management from the University of Sheffield and the M.Ed in Educational Technology with a major in online education from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. She has a special interest in web-based/web-enhanced instruction and has pursued a number of web-based courses with international institutions including a postgraduate certificate course in Using the Internet in Higher Education. 

He special area of interest is the use of online technologies in the delivery of workforce training and continuing education.


Carl is responsible for ensuring prompt and effective delivery of a range of media-related services and supports to faculty and students.

Among his primary responsibilities, he overseas EMS's response to requests for AV equipment and related support services for teaching and for special events as well as the unit's response to requests for media production services including video and audio recordings, video and audio productions, photography and multimedia services. A trained teacher, graphic artist and multimedia specialist, Carl is an experienced member of the unit's multi-talented and multi-skilled production team. He also works with the Coordinator of Educational Media Services on the upgrade of technological resources in teaching spaces.   He serves as resource person for media training workshops and seminars in the area of graphic design, video and audio production, web page design, multimedia applications, etc. Carl also provides advice to faculty and staff on the acquisition of AV equipment.

A former graphic artist with the UWI/UNESCO RLA 142 Project and the School of Education, Carl is a foundation member of the LRC production unit. He has extensive experience and training in the use of audio-visual materials in teaching and learning and has conducted training in this field for student teachers at UWI as well as Erdiston Teacher Training College. 

Carl pursued training to masters degree level in Education and the Mass Media at the University of Manchester. His special area of interest is in the use of communications technologies as a vehicle for improving teaching and learning and providing access to higher education.


Paul is another highly skilled and creative member of the media production team, responsible for providing support services to staff in the development and production of technology-based teaching materials. His primary responsibilities include providing technical support to the unit's production services including video and audio production, photography, and multimedia application development including web page design. He assists in the development of concepts and produces graphics for teaching materials, exhibitions, posters, web pages etc.; serves as resource person for training workshops and seminars in the area of graphic design, video and audio production including digitizing of audio and video and use of digitized audio and video in multimedia and web pages. Paul assists the unit as necessary in responding to requests for AV services for teaching and for special events. He undertakes special responsibility for the graphics and design of the LRC's web page.

Paul is a graduate of the Barbados Community College, holding the BA in Fine Art (Graphics) with First Class Honours. He has won a number of awards for his graphic design work.

Paul's special area of interest is interactive multimedia and the opportunities which these new technologies offer for enhancing the quality of the teaching/learning experience.
