This research seeks to explore the cultural values and practices that would determine an excellent service experience for the visitor to Barbados as compared to other leading tourism destinations regionally and internationally.
The theoretical framework will be taken from the convergence-divergence-cross-vergence (CDC) theory to explain the dominance of economic ideology and to explore the role of culture in creating an internationally competitive advantage. While human resources are not the only contributor, they are however the critical proponent of the service experience.
Such then, it is anticipated that the findings will reveal the comparative indigenous elements of Barbadian culture to be enshrined in the development of a National Human Resource Strategy that ensures the sustainability and internationally competitiveness of Barbados’ tourism industry.
