Faculty of Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) remains committed to working with its partners in the Private and Public Sectors to advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Barbados and the Region. On June 8th, 2017, at the Cave Hill Campus, the inaugural launch of FST2048 will take place.
FST2048 will be an annual event focusing entirely on the commercialization of applied research initiatives. This event will not only be an annual display of products and services but will be the incubator for intensified collaboration between the Faculty and the Private/Public sectors.
At the 2017 event, we will begin the process of implementing the following actions.
  • The establishment and/or strengthening of collaboration between the Faculty and the Private and Public sectors in the area of applied research and its commercialization.
  • To include within the curriculum the areas of Science Entrepreneurship and Administration.
  • To provide an annual event for the display and demonstration of the results of applied research collaborations and their commercialization.
  • To promote Science Entrepreneurship within the wider public.
  • To expand access to the sciences within underrepresented groups, including women and persons with disabilities.

There will be two sessions, morning (10:00 am – 12:30 pm) and afternoon (2:30 pm – 3:30 pm). The morning session is for the Private and Public sectors, while the afternoon session is for the undergraduate and postgraduate students.
