BSc. in Biology
Apply to do an exciting BSc. Degree with a Double major in Biological Sciences OR a major or minor in Biology at the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.

You will explore:

  • Biochemical basis of cell function

  • How plants work
  • How animals are adapted to their environment

Courses

You will need 93 credits approved by the Faculty of Science and Technology. For the major, 30 credits from Biology (10 courses) are required. For specific details, refer to the faculty handbook.

You will do courses in:
  1. Diversity of life
  2. Genetics
  3. Flowering Plant Physiology
  4. Ecophysiology of Animals
  5. Molecular Techniques
  6. Biochemistry, Ecology and Microbiology electives in your chosen areas of interest.

Research

Our Faculty does research in all areas of Biology. A few focus areas include studying the flora and fauna of Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, biotechnology, microbiology, improving the quality of sports and amenity grass surfaces, and the use of sustainable practices in horticultural production.
