All prospective students wishing to enter the University must sit the Proficiency in English Test.
The Test is normally offered in February each year. The application for the test may be obtained at the same time as the normal application form from the Student Affairs Section at Cave Hill, Mona or St. Augustine, or from University Centres in other countries.
Students who have obtained Grade 1 in CSEC General Proficiency in English A or Grade 1 in CAPE Communication Skills are exempted from taking this test.
Persons not taking the Test or failing the Test, on entry to the University, will be required to take a remedial course, FOUN0100 Fundamentals of Written English for a fee of Bds $500 during the Semester. The course may also be taken during the UWI Summer School (limited numbers) for the regular Summer School fee.
