“UWI”, The University of the West Indies, is the 60 year old regional Caribbean university, with three major campuses ("Mona" campus in Jamaica, "St. Augustine" in Trinidad and the "Cave Hill" campus in Barbados). UWI has given the Caribbean most of its leaders in government, business, education, law, engineering and medicine, as well as two Nobel Laureates. Eight serving Prime Ministers are UWI graduates.
The Faculty of Medical Sciences has existed at the Cave Hill campus for the past 40 years. It follows a “British” style 5 year curriculum and boasts an academic faculty from Finland, Denmark, UK, the US, Canada, Lebanon, Jamaica, India, Barbados and Spain, among others. View FMS Video »
Medical graduates of Cave Hill routinely pass the USMLE and European licensing exams. The UWI is the only Caribbean medical school fully accredited by the CAAM (Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Medical Education).
